Woodpeckers preparing for winter at Folsom Lake 2014

Bill and I returned to Folsom Point at Folsom Lake to photograph the woodpeckers preparing for winter. You can review past years posts where I documented the woodpeckers placing acorns from the oak trees into the limbs where they prepared the holes to store them. They reuse the holes each year adding new ones too. Last year I was saddened because the aged oak tree was cut down due to disease. The woodpeckers have relocated to nearby trees, creating new holes. Here are a few pictures I would like to share with you.
