Girls trip to Graeagle 2014

It has been some time since I have had an opportunity to have a photography get away. My friend Tammy invited me to go with her to Graeagle, CA She ran the Lost Sierra Endurance Run (50K) on Saturday. Here are some photographs from the trip.

We stayed at the Chalet View Lodge in a cute one bedroom cabin that had a small kitchen, bedroom, living room and bath. This picture was of the grounds. There was a catch and release trout pond, horseshoes, bocce ball and this inviting hammock. I would recommend staying here.

There was a swap meet going on at the Elks Lodge next door. I headed out in the morning and took this picture and had some fun editing it.

I dropped Tammy off at the race and stayed to cheer her on and take a few pictures of the start.  I headed up the Gold Lake Hwy. to take some pictures and to cheer her on at the 18 mile mark.

These pictures were taken at Gold Lake. This dog was so cute. The owners rescued her a few years ago. The lake was very low but there were a lot of kayakers and dogs enjoying the great weather.

Sand Pond is another stop off of the Gold Lake Hwy. I hiked around the Sardine Lake Trails and found this wildlife viewing area.

I walked down this wooden trail to see what wildlife I might find. This trail was beautiful, but I got a little nervous being out there so I turned around and headed back to the car.

I drove up the mountain above Sardine Lake. The road became a very narrow windy one lane road.

When I got to the top of the road there was a shuttle van leaving that dropped off some hikers and mountain bikers.

I made my way back down the road and decided to head back to Hwy 70 to see Quincy. Well there wasn't anything to see in Quincy so I headed back to see Tammy cross the finish line. On my way back I took a road that was marked with a camera on the sign, my clue there might be a photo opportunity. I found the Feather River and the railroad tracks.

I made it back to watch Tammy finish her race in 7 hours 45 minutes.

After the race we headed out to the Brewing Lair, a hangout for the locals. It was pretty cool. Tammy had a beer and as the designated driver I had water.

I had a great time and thank Tammy for inviting me. I hope you enjoyed this post (Jeanette)...
